CodeCreate Youth in Motion

Tax deductible
With your support, Youth in Motion brings together technology, theatre and young immigrants from many countries. We'll bring together diverse people and diverse ideas in a big way; loudly and proudly, we can show the strength of diversity.

I started CodeCreate Technology Education in 2012, with Cardboard Switching, a type of physical computing that has engaged thousands of youth at maker faires, classrooms and studios across the world. (See it in the video!) Now, youth, experiencing immigration either directly, indirectly or through their family's past, will come together to create new theatre and new media.

We'll build new technology with originally constructed electronics and media. The stories will be those of the youth and their diverse backgrounds. Teens from the Chicago's CodeCreate Technology Education represent many backgrounds and neighborhoods and teens from Hamburg, Germany's Mut! Theatre have their roots in Turkey, Kurdistan and beyond.

Your tax-deductible donations will support the travel and work of our participants. Funds collected (through a Certified Charity) will benefit our group in Chicago and the visit of the German teens including flights and accommodations. We will provide expert coaching on technology and theatre from artists and designers with decades of experience. We will also present various public events, engaging thousands of families and youth, such as the Chicago North and South Side Mini Maker Faires, the Scratch Day Cardboard Challenge,  the Halloween Gathering and Parade on the Chicago Cultural Mile, performances in Hamburg and more.

Youth in Motion will use sculpture and circuit design, media and motors, song and dance and honest acting. We'll tell the world that, together, we can do more. Art and technology, theatre and media, electric cardboard puppets and song and dance and honest stories of immigration can be one.

CodeCreate and Mut! have received some support from organizations in the US and Germany, including the Kulturbehörde, but need your help for this project to happen. We're proud to be a program of Resilience Partners, a 501c3 organization on the South Side of Chicago with whom we also engage in the community. Please reach out with any questions or visit us at www.codecreate.us to learn more.
