Koins for Kenya therapy trip
As many of you know, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Kenya in 2011. I was able to complete my pediatric Occupational Therapy internship at a school for children with special needs. This year, I have another incredible opportunity. Students in the same Occupational Therapy program want to follow in my footsteps and the college has asked me to be their clinical instructor. This is a huge opportunity for me in my career, for the students here, and for the children in Kenya that we will be working with.
We are planning on spending 2 weeks in the village of Mnyenzeni and working with the children in local and surrounding villages. We will focus on the students of the Sean Michels School where children from all over come to gain an education when they would otherwise receive none. We will be bringing and making equipment that will enable the children to learn and play to the best of their abilities. We will also be visiting the village of Bombolulu which helps hundreds of men and women with different disabilities overcome their physical limitations and empower them economically and socially to become fully integrated members of their communities.
