Ronnie's Harbor

Ronnie's Harbor has been in the making for many years. Named for my dad, Ronald Oakes, adopting pets in need is something I've been doing as long as I can remember, and he helped out with when he lived with me post retirement.

My focus now is on spay/neuter for feral cats and giving seniors a loving forever home to live out their days in. I have been self funded until October of 2012.

Following my quadronectomy, my husband made a hasty retreat, left me penniless and unable to work. Through the generosity of friends and family I am still in the rental home I love, but until my disability comes in, things are not looking good. Losing this place would lead to surrendering (and inevitable euthanizing of) several older seniors.

Some of these furry friends have outlived their humans, others could no longer be cared for when their humans' health failed. There was Chloe, a 12 year old Bassett whose cancer was too time consuming for the family she belonged to to deal with. So many stories, so many memories, so much love.

All funds will be used to keep, feed, vet and pamper these wonderful friends and companions. Help me keep these deserving friends in their home.
