Support The Novel BROOKLYN HEAT

I want you to imagine something with me:

You are reading a book (physical or ebook, whichever helps you imagine more clearly). You are really enjoying the story. The dialogue is great, the pacing is fast, and you can't wait to turn the page to get to the next bit. You lose track of time, totally engrossed in this book. There are moments when you tense up from fright (in a roller coaster or haunted house sort of way) and a few where you laugh. There are characters that you'll love to hate, and others you'll just love. All the while, you will be thinking, this is a great book.

In the middle of it all, you realize this book you're so thoroughly enjoying wouldn't have existed without you.

How often do you get to feel that way about something?

Of all the books you'll read in 2013, all the movies you'll see, or songs you'll listen to, how many will you have an opportunity to be a part of creating?

It's exciting to be involved in something creative. And if you choose to support the efforts to help complete my next novel, you'll know what that's like, first hand. And you'll be able to prove it to your friends by pointing to your name on the thank you page in the back of the book.

For as little as $10 you can be a part of this process. How can just $10 help? With the advent of crowdfunding sites like this and a bunch of dedicated friends, $10 quickly becomes $100, and then $1000, and so on.

My second novel, Brooklyn Heat, picks up 3 years after the first one, All The Way Gone, left off (you can read the Kirkus Review by clicking here - they call it both "a great read" AND "an intriguing drama").

In this follow-up story, the two veteran detectives, Ryan Sullivan and Hiro Masimoto, and an overzealous young officer, Jimmy McNally, return to hunt a killer during the hottest summer in Brooklyn's history. The book explores their personal struggles coming to grips with a horrific crime while simultaneously trying to build a case and catch the elusive Nick DeSantis.

The case turns out to be more complex than the detectives first think. Though DeSantis has a history of violence, and a clearly professed desire for revenge, he is smarter than the police anticipated, always a step ahead, and all the while protesting his innocence.

Did DeSantis commit the most horrendous crime these cops have ever seen, or has someone set him up?

You'll have to read the book to find out. You can get a taste of it by clicking here to read the first few pages. To finish the book, I am asking for your help.

I am now committed to a deadline of May 31 2013 to have the book ready show to agents and publishers.

I learned a lot about how to write, complete, and market a novel while working on the first one. All The Way Gone is available as a paperback as well as an e-book, was also translated and published in France (click here to see the French edition on Amazon France), and well-reviewed.

With the majority of the writing complete on Brooklyn Heat, I can see this is a far better piece of work. To complete the project I need time and money. The time is now available. So, here I am, asking friends to support a friend, asking acquaintances and others to help support a writer, help support the dream of an artist, or simply the arts themselves. If you pitch in just $10 it will go a long way to reaching the goal.

And be sure to check out the rewards. There are advanced reader copies as well as signed editions available for different giving levels.

Whether you can give or not, I appreciate your time, support, and friendship.

I'll leave you with this thought from a great mind:

"I'm a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn't have the heart to let him down." - Abraham Lincoln
