Nikkis Fight and Family

Donation protected
In October 2014 at age 36 my sister, Nikki was told she was in remission and it seemed that her health and financial issues caused from cervical cancer were behind her.She had won. This single mother of 3 had managed to stay strong and still raise her children with very minimal help from others. On December 10th Nikki went to her doctor to revisit some prior concern pretaining to her left eye.  For sometime clients friends and family had made comments that her eye was buffy or bulging. And although she herself was concerned she just couldnt bring herself to deal with another bill until now.The cat scan would  reveil that she had malignant appearing tumors that had been there for at least a year. During a visit to her oncologist at at Darthmouth she was told that because of the tumors had spread through her facial bones her temperial muscles and her cranium she would have to discontinue any stressful activities including work. The obstruction in her eye socket was pushing out her eye. She was then told that she would  be looking at severial surgeries to her face, varied types radiation treatments and medications . Devastated as this personal trainer and fitness model was she stayed focused and began to seek help.

Emotionally stressed and frighten she had her first surgury, two days before Christmas. Fear of her outcome effected others as well and she was then served with emergency orders of custody of her youngest daughter.  Now she would have to fight for her children.

Nikki daughter's are 11 and 5. Being a single parent is hard for anyone but nikki always has found a way to get by and give more. In November of 2011 she won guardianship of a 15 yrs old homeless boy she had bounded with.  Even if she struggled she always knew she had it better than others and she wouldn't sleep knowing she could do more.

She began an athletic group called Team Empowered focusing on nurturing the inner athlete no matter the outward appearance. Utilizing her passion to help, the team and I have led several non profit fundraisers for hero's in need. And even during this time when she should be only concerned with her health she is repeating constently that she finds strength in her pain and is organizing a non profit sector of Team EMPOWERED that will help navigate and guide people in a medical emergency turn of events.

After having person after person tell her I can't help you or I don't know where to send you she decided no one in a crisis situation should have to pick up the phone more than once. I'm so proud of my sister. We all are.

Nikki will have a full diagnosis on Jan 5th. At which time she will not only have her treatment plan for the next two years but she will also be served with eviction papers.  Making it almost impossible for her to retain custody of her children.

As we begin to sell anything necessary and seek out financial aid to keep this family together and strong. I ask please help empower the one that empowers so many.  Every dollar will give them a chance at staying together and staying strong.
