Journey to the Bolshoi

Hello, my name is Bria Williams and I have been blessed with the opportunity to study at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in New York City for Summer 2013. I am currently a sophomore at Marymount Manhattan College studying dance and soaking up all the knowledge my school and department has to offer. Although I receive amazing training at school, I enjoy challenges and new environments. Training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy will place me in a different and unfamiliar environment which will challenge me physically and contribute to developing my artistry. Seeing that I began ballet at the age of 13, I have consistently been playing catchup with other girls my age. What I have learned over the past years is that hard work and dedication pays off. After receiving the phone call that I was accepted to the Bolshoi Summer Program, I said to myself, "I must take this opportunity!" The Bolshoi Academy is one of the oldest and most established educational institutions for classical ballet training and it is an honor to train with them. This is a lifetime opportunity that I will not allow to pass by. I am asking for any help possible to assist me to this prestigious academy.
