Beatles-A-Rama!!!
The founder of Beatlesarama, Pat Matthews, has been a fan of radio for most of his life, and a Beatles fan even longer. Matthews became an on-air personality and during this time began a family. What began more than ten years ago as an online tribute to his favorite band, the Beatles, is now in its second decade.
Beatlesarama has become a station admired by many including George Harrison's wife, Olivia and many more around the world. But most do not know of the private challenges now facing Pat, since the diagnosis.
Prostate cancer and its treatment is now Pat's primary concern. The ongoing stream of Beatlesarama's programming also takes his time, but make no mistake. It's a life and death situation for both.
"Advertising support is not the sure thing people think it is," Pat says from experience. "I've put together a damn fine stream but lots of technical roadblocks prevent ad money from helping much."
Which is why this father of 6 kids, works two outside jobs, performs various voice-overs for clients, all in an effort to make ends meet and fight cancer at the same time.
How goes the battle? "The cancer is not getting worse," Pat says, "and that's a great thing." However, paying the day to day bills for bandwidth and server fees is a never ending battle.
More listeners find Beatlesarama.com all the time, but the expenses are a constant worry to Mr. Matthews, whose credit card is maxed out. What's a Beatles fan to do? He could just turn off the music of a generation and cancel all of the bills...or:
