Short Summary

I'm Pamela Clayfield.  I have been an author for more than 10 years, self-publishing 7 adult novels and 1 Young Adult novel.  I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and I have spoken in classrooms, taught both youth and adult programs and ran my first writing camp in July 2012.

I had to learn the basics of writing 11 years ago by going to the library to borrow books about writing, or buying books about writing.  Because I believe Everyone has a story to tell I want to be the person who gets them started!
For almost as long, I have been practicing my photography skills and have found my niche in landscape.

For almost 3 years, I have had the dream of operating a warm, inviting place where writer's of all levels of writing can meet (since being a writer is a lonely), learn by taking a workshop or program, run or join groups and sell their work.  Since becoming involved with the Waterloo Community Arts Centre (the Button Factory) there has been an added dimension to also have a studio for local photographers to run or join groups, sell their work and perhaps teach classes.

The studio would also be open to teachers to bring in their classes where we would break that group into smaller groups and they would spend time learning about the various parts of writing.

I have taught people who have been genuinely grateful for what I offer and I feel there is a great need to have this available to the entire community.

This project is extremely important to me as I understand the deep down need that a person feels that drives their creative processes, specifically writing and photography, my own two passions.
I'm passionate about writing and so is every writer I know.  People have said "I don't know how you do it.  I'd love to write a book but I just can't."

Let me change that can't into CAN!!!

What We Need & What You Get

The funds raised from this campaign would go towards acquiring the space required to run the Studio as well as the advertising to promote its existence and the programs and services offered.

In return for your generosity, we have a number of perks for you from a simple Thank You to a plaque on the wall when the Studio opens.  These are outlined to the right of your screen so check them out!

Any funds raised will still be put towards the business, just on a much smaller scale such as advertising the workshops and programs in order to increase awareness and grow class sizes.

The Impact

Up to now, I have changed the lives of those who have taken the time out to take a workshop or program.  They have each, in turn, been grateful to me for showing them the way to tell their story.

The Studio would allow for those individuals to have a place to call their 'writing home', a unique, comfortable, energy-filled environment where they can be as imaginitive as possible!

There has never been anything like this locally, or anywhere that I can find.

With your help, I can start this Studio and bring a much needed service to the Region and perhaps the idea will spread and there will soon be a Studio near you!

Walt Disney once said "If you can dream it, you can do it!" I CAN do it but I need your help.

Other Ways You Can Help

I understand that not everyone can contribute, but that doesn't mean you can't help:

You can help by spreading the word to anyone and everyone you know and help make some noise about this campaign.

There are plenty of Share tools available for you to just that.

Spreading the word to everyone you know means they share it with everyone they know!  Together we can all make this successful!

Thank you so much!
