We had a vision - to unite Arizona's yoga community online, creating a one-stop resource for Arizona yoga students, instructors and studios.
Using this simple idea, we created a website, www.arizonayogacommunity, in 2012. From its initial launch, our intent has been to offer a user-friendly resource for those seeking local information about yoga and related disciplines. So far, we've created a statewide calendar of yoga events, classes, retreats and workshops, built a comprehensive directory of yoga studios, created lots of great content focusing on wellness, the mind/body connection and healthy lifestyles, and established a scholarship fund for student and teacher training.
Feedback from the yoga community and our readership has been overwhelmingly positive. But - we have a long way to go.
Right now, there are only a handful of us dedicating our time and resources to build this vision for Arizona's future. It's time to grow to the next level, and for that we need to hire a part time site editor and web designer as well as continue to pay our wonderful writers. Through our scholarship fund, we are also committed to helping underfunded students and teachers get the yoga training they dream of.
It's a big job, but as Laozi said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Won't you support our yoga journey? Our goal is to raise $5,500 in 2013, making Arizona's online yoga community fully accessible to all.
