Ray De Grussa was born in 1952 with Cerebral Palsy.
He was raised by his mother, as his father passed away when Ray was 6 months
old.
Ray spent time living in Essex, Cornwall and Wales
before moving to Sheffield in 2005 where he currently lives at Mickley Hall, a
Leonard Cheshire Disability care home. It was here that music became a major
part of Ray's life. With the help of the University of Lifelong Learning and
Drake Music, he was able to study music at the University of Sheffield.
Ray retained his equipment after the course and
continues to compose music every day. His work won an award last year for
Digital Participation at the National Adult Learners Week. Ray's passion
for music in all its forms is clear in his work "“ he has covered songs by artists
as diverse as Tchaikovsky and Lionel Ritchie "“ and he's also a non-singing member of a local
barbershop group.
The aim of this fundraising effort is to be able to send Ray on a trip to Bournemouth to attend the 39th Annual Barbershop Convention in May 2013. All donations from this page will go towards covering carer fees this activity will incur, as well as transport and accommodation costs.
