84 Hungarian amateur in Carnegie Hall

The choirs of our city of Dunaujvaros, 80 people who love to sing, have an unprecedented, unique opportunity in the history of our Nation's, Hungary's choir culture "“ a chance which they really want to take advantage of.

Let me introduce the history of the above mentioned unprecedented opportunity. The Global Sing for Peace movement (whose two key figures were composers Karl Jenkins from Wales and the American Renée Clausen) called upon the Choirs of the world in the summer of 2011. The main idea was to organize a concert for the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attack on its 10th anniversary. We acted upon the request and on September 11, 2011 all choirs in Dunaujvaros (except for the children's choirs) gave their respect to the victims.

All the material (media content, pictures, music content, video) were forwarded to the management of Global Sing for Peace. After this on October 27, 2011 we received an invitation to perform the almost 60 minutes long creation called "˜Stabat Mater' and 'The Bards of Wales' by Karl Jenkins with 400 singers all together at Carnegie Hall in New York City on January 20st, 2014. This very special event will be the 70th Birthday Celebration of Karl Jenkins! The other point that the writer of The Bards of Wales was a Hungarian poet, Janos Arany, and we will sing this work Hungarian as the premiére in the USA!
At 3rd of June 2012 we performed the amazing work 'The Armed Man - Mass for Peace' of Mr. Jenkins as a Hungarian Premiére at our city (you can see a little part from that concert here).

Hungarian amateur choirs never had this kind of opportunity before. In our opinion this request not only affects people in our city of Dunaujvaros. We also find it amazing that all the adult and high school choirs of one city can perform together at one of the world's most significant and famous concert halls. We would represent Hungary as one.

Our goal is to extend Hungary's reputation. This is supported by the evidence of our activities dating back for years and decades. To perform at Carnegie Hall is one of the best opportunities to further increase our reputation.

In addition we plan performances other than at Carnegie Hall. Arriving two days earlier we would give independent pre-shows to the Hungarian audience at many locations in New York City including one at the Hungarian Cultural Center.

The travel expenses of the previously mentioned 80 members and 4 accompanying people are tremendous. 25% of the travel expenses are paid by the choir members themselves. We would like and hope to raise the rest from tenders, donations, sponsors and/or patrons.

We hope to gain your support in our project, and help Hungary as well by spreading our culture.
