I'm Going Back to Africa!

If you know me, or have talked to me in the last year, you know I absolutely fell in love with Africa the 1st time I went to Tanzania in January 2012 with Soles4Souls, so much so that I went back in June (and almost stayed...seriously)! It's an incredible place and the people are so full of joy, it just captivated my heart from the 1st day. There was no doubt in my mind that I'd go back...and SOON. This time, I will be going to Malawi in May 2013 for 6 weeks volunteering with Maji Zuwa.
What I'll Be Doing
I was drawn to Maji Zuwa because they and their partners "work to lift the people of Malawi out of poverty using their own abilities and talents rather than hand-outs...constantly striving to empower Malawians to lift themselves to a higher social and economic condition". This also appeals to my indecisive nature & want to "do everything" :) because there are multiple projects to work on and with. I will be focusing on micro-business loans, and learning more about how they empower women in the community; something I've been interested in since reading books like Half the Sky and The Blue Sweater. Of course I'll also be volunteering in orphanages & schools, playing with and giving love to the kids there, and hopefully assisting with health & education initiatives too - but don't be surprised to see updates and pictures from anything in between!

Your support through donation helps cover the cost of the 6 week volunteer program, which includes lodging, travel, in-country transportation, supplies for our service projects, and small toys for the children.
I am so excited to experience another part of Africa and DO more and have my life inevitably touched by the people I meet along the way, while helping those very same people. Your support means the world to me...and them. No amount is too small; every little bit helps and is much appreciated.
