Everything Lost in House Fire

Donation protected
On July 22, 2015 what started off as a normal Wednesday in Schenectady New York, a young mother of three experienced a night she will never forget. As Elika Williams and her three children Kamya age 10, Kyare age 7 and Keisan age 3 begin eating dinner in the living room of their apartment Kyare mentioned to his mother he smelled something coming from his bedroom. Elika walked over to her son Kyare’s bedroom to notice smoke coming from under the bed. As a mother her first initial reaction was to get everyone out the apartment safely. Not only were Elika’s three children inside of the apartment located on the 2nd floor but, her sister Adriele and nephew Aiden age 1 years old were in a separate bedroom as well. Adriele immediately called 911 and helped with the process of evacuating everyone from the apartment. Elika began to pour water onto the smoke that she saw underneath the bed. Within a matter of minutes the smoke turned into unbearable flames. The entire apartment was on fire!

Please help me contribute to starting this new chapter in Elika and her children’s lives. THEY LOST EVERYTHING. Please give whatever your heart desires and as always words of encouragement or non-monetary contributions are welcomed. This fundraiser is to help purchase the following but not limited to:

Food, clothes, shoes, kids school supplies, toys, household goods, toiletries, a new apartment and furniture

Just this past 4th of July I was visiting Elika in this same apartment that caught fire. To know that you can have something one day and everything can just vanish in a matter of seconds right before your eyes is real. Elika and her family are individuals dear to my heart. I am extremely grateful that no one was hurt in the fire we all must be thankful for life, materialistic things can be replaced.

After speaking with Elika this is what she had to say:
“I worked so hard for what I have to provide for my children. I just didn’t know what I would do if my apartment was to get destroyed. I did all that I could to put out the fire not realizing I was feeding the fire making matters worse instead of calming it. I got to a point where I couldn’t bare the smoke and flames anymore my sister and I exited the apartment at the same time just seconds before my entire apartment caught fire right before my eyes. I just saw my hard work crumble In front of my face I dropped to my knees. All I could think of was I can’t believe this is happening to me I just lost EVERYTHING and I have to start over again. I thank God everyone made it out safely I have to look at it as a new beginning”.
