G's Jook Joint - The Renaissance!

G's Jook Joint is a soul food restaurant and entertainment venue in the Royal Square area of York City. Did you know they also host multiple youth programs like "Young Chefs" and "The Hang-Out Space" that provides urban youth a safe and affirming place to be warm, well-fed and surrounded by music, art, encouragement and positivity? In the less than a year that it has been open, G's has become THE spot in York where no matter who you are, you're family. SOO why the GoFundMe? On March 9th G's was broken into. Gas lines were cut and pipes were taken, most of the furniture was destroyed, the appliances and deep fryers were stolen and the counters were broken up. A massive crew of volunteers from the Democratic Party of York, Stick 'n Move, The Unitarian Universalist Church the Royal Square artist community and more are putting in "sweat equity" to clean and rebuild the place. That doesn't replace the food, the furniture or the appliances though. Fundraisers are being planned as we speak but we need to get the Joint back open! Let's do this!
