Emergency fund for Son displaced by housefire.

My partner, Kristin’s Son Sebastian’s townhouse caught fire last night when a dire spread from a neighbouring townhouse. I’m raising money for him to buy him new clothes etc because literally everything he had is lost in the fire/
smoke/ water damage. Below are Kristin’s words.

“My son contacted me early this morning "Mom, there is a fire. Come now." I arrived within 5 minutes (had to double back when I realized that I should put on pants). From blocks away, I could already see the reflections of the red, flashing lights on the smoke that smothered the sky. Emergency crews and vehicles were swarming and bustling and there were firefighters and hoses through his apartment doors, holes being cut through his rooftop to drop water into. Smoke. Everywhere. Oddly quiet and so so cold.

Pulling into that scene, knowing that my son's home was burning down, and not being able to find him was the absolute worst thing I have ever felt. When I saw him standing there in the crowd, his face lit by the flames of his burning home, I wanted to run and jump into him with absolute joy. He was fine. Very safe. He had saved the pets (and his phone) and now had just the clothes that were on his back. But he was outside with his now rejoicing mama, reacting calmly, keeping a cool head .

Bringing him home to mama's after hours of fire watching and speaking with police, using extra care while making him a fresh bed in the wee hours of the morning, and tucking him in safely was literally the most beautiful and meaningful thing I have ever done. It reminded me of the many times over the past few years that I have brought him home from the hospital, and of every time I have been able to, in times of crisis, say with a full heart "at least he is home". Financially, I don't know what to do in the interim; this pandemic really doesn't help. Mentally, I have a mind like a feather. But emotionally, I have gone deep with gratitude and feel blessed to have my son safely within my care, alive...and, of course, hungry.

Long story short...more love, more hugs, more celebrating, more gratitude, more deep breaths, and more appreciation. You never know when you may get that call. My entire universe could have imploded last night and it could happen to you, too. Look around yourself and outside of yourself and within yourself for the simple ways you are blessed.

To the neighbour that took the time to alert my slumbering son to the fire that would breach his walls within mere minutes, thank you ❤

To anyone who took the time to read this, thank you ❤ I just needed to get this out, hoping to move past shock and into action! Sebastian is 100% safe...not so much as a scratch. It's just stuff that was lost and we'll get there when we get there.”-Kristin
