Since arriving in the U.S. fleeing political persecution in Peru, the Sebastian family has built a beautiful, honest life here. Now, they are facing their hardest battle yet, and they need our community’s help.

Angel, a devoted father and husband, has always been the rock of his family. He is a hardworking man who has dedicated his life to providing for his wife and two sons (ages 20 and 17), raising them to be strong, kind, and productive members of our community.

Angel is the kind of neighbor and community member everyone wishes they had. Whether he is volunteering his time to fix, build, and paint benches at the local school, coaching his son Sebastian’s soccer team, or helping his older son navigate the path to college, Angel’s entire world has always revolved around his family and lifting up those around him.

Earlier this year, in February 2026, Angel faced a major hurdle when he lost his long-time job. But true to his character, he didn't give up. He rolled up his sleeves and started working for himself, using every skill he knew—from AC repair to construction—to keep providing for his family while they patiently awaited the final steps of their legal asylum process.

Tragedy struck unexpectedly when Angel was caught as collateral damage in an ICE raid.

He is currently being held in an immigration detention center while fighting to stay in the country he and his family have called home for a decade. Angel has a pending asylum case and an employment authorization, but navigating the immigration detention system requires immediate, specialized legal representation.

Detention cases move fast, and the legal fees to secure a lawyer and fight for his release on bond are overwhelming for a family that has already been through so much.
