ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF

As your newly crowned Miss Black Pennsylvania US Ambassador, I endeavor to be an Ambassador of Change. As a senior student at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I was chosen for this great honor.  I look forward to representing the Keystone State at the National Scholarship competition to be held in Atlanta, Georgia in June of 2015.  I am calling on the “Village of Aynia,” those who have supported, loved, cared for, nurtured, mentored, and educated me through the years to join me as Partners!  Can I count on your support?

Please consider becoming one of my sponsors (you will be listed in the official program).  Your heartfelt gift, no matter how large or small, will  assist me in this journey, while helping me bring voice to my platform.

I was drawn to pageantry for the strength it facilitates in women, especially as they seek to make a difference in the World.  I strive to promote a platform of Alzheimer’s Awareness, in honor of my great-grandfather, William Colbert, Jr., who is also a surviving Tuskegee Airmen.  Most recently, I have been drawn to the issue of missing and exploited children, directly resulting from the tragic personal story of my missing two- and four-year old cousins.  Inspired by these family-life experiences, I am in the process of starting a non-profit organization, "Colbert's Wings.”

SUPPORTING ME IS AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE!

As the proud great-granddaughter of a surviving Tuskegee Airmen, I know that I was born to soar.  Born seven weeks prematurely, I am a survivor who has grown, thrived, and excelled.   I am on a quest to become an accomplished, recognized woman of the world.    WILL YOU PLEASE CONSIDER SPONSORING ME?

MY EDUCATION HAS PREPARED ME FOR THIS CHALLENGE!

I was admitted to “Pitt” on an academic scholarship, with a conditional acceptance into the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program.  After completing one year, I realized that my skillsets were better suited to Occupational Therapy, which resulted in a change to my undergraduate focus.  Presently, my major is psychology, with a minor in African Studies, and a pre-Occupational Therapy focus.

I was blessed to also be a three-year recipient of White Rock’s Eliza D. Kane Academic Memorial Scholarship and was also awarded the Fruit of the Spirit Book Scholarship presented by Saint Luke United Methodist Church, in Sykesville, Maryland.

THE LEGACY OF EXCELLENE ON WHICH I BUILD

When in Maryland, I am an active member of White Rock Independent Methodist Episcopal Church in Sykesville, Maryland, where I was christened at the age of four months.  To God be the Glory!

My Extended Biography:

Aynia is a graduate of Quince Orchard High School in North Potomac Maryland, where she matriculated with honors.  While attending Quince Orchard, Aynia was inducted into the National Honor Society during her first eligibility cycle as a junior.  She was an eight-year recipient of the Montgomery County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) academic excellence award.  During her freshman year, she was recognized as Quince Orchard’s only female recipient in the field of technology award.  Aynia was a member of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), volunteered in the after school homework club of her former elementary school; as well as volunteered to provide free childcare service to the Parent Teacher Association.  Aynia is a former Brownie and Junior Girl Scout.

During Aynia’s senior year, she was selected as a Debutante for The Precious Pearls Cotillion program, sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Upsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter.  This nine-month program was designed to enhance the academic, social, cultural, and civic awareness of selected high school women.  During the culminating Ball, at the end of the Debutante Season, Aynia was crowned the winner and named “Miss Precious Pearl.”

While attending Quince Orchard, Aynia was enrolled in the school’s Child Development Program.  She parlayed this educational experience into a paid, part-time position at Mount Ararat Baptist Church’s Early Childhood Development Center in Pittsburgh, PA, where she also enjoys spending both church-fellowship and voluntary time during her collegiate academic year.

PLEASE HELP ME REACH MY GOAL – ATLANTA, HERE I COME.

Let’s bring home a crown!!  Together, we can do it.     THANK YOU!!!!
