Love Mia

Mia is our 3-year old beautiful daughter that was born with Myelomeningocele, the most serious type of spina bifida. With this condition, a sac of fluid comes through an opening in the baby’s back. The spinal cord and nerves are damaged and causes severe disabilities, such as respiratory and digestive problems, loss of feeling in her lower body, and not being able to move her legs.

We are starting a new and challenging program that requires a variety of new equipment, treatments and therapies. The objectives of this program is helping her in the following difficulties:

Paralysis
Muscle weakness
Hip Function 
Deformed feet
Unsteady gait (problems with balance)
Difficulties paying attention
Speech problems, such as hoarseness
Difficulties feeding and swallowing
Gastrointestinal complications
Bowel and bladder problems
Hydrocephalus
Abnormal breathing, such as central sleep apnea, characterized by periods of breathing cessation during day and night
Life-threatening infections
