Bicycle Fund for Zane

Zane is a 14 year old from Ascension Parish.  He was born in Baton Rouge and moved around a lot growing up.  He now lives with his grandmother, that he calls “Biddy”.  His grandmother is his primary caretaker & he adores her.  He’s in the 9th grade.  

Zane did not start talking until he was 7 years old.  Although he is 14, mentally he is around 5-7 years old.  Zane has multiple medical issues.  These include: Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Microcephaly and total blindness, which is due to his optic nerves not developing. 

Zane is like any other teen in most other respects.  His favorite color is Blue.  There is a story here… He was given soft, blue swede shoes as a little boy by another grandmother and remembers and loved those shoes.  He also loves almost every kind of music.  Some of his favorites are:  Dolly Parton & The Zach Brown Band.  He also loves to eat!  Fruit is his favorite & next is McDonald’s.  He also loves Duck Dynasty. 

Other special things to know about Zane:

He knows some sign language.  He runs in the Special Olympics and has won a medal.  He loves to run & jump.   He is an extremely loving, kind person.  He loves everybody.  He’s tender hearted and always happy.  And his Biddy says he “never shuts up”. 

Zane has overcome many obstacles and still faces his obstacles head on every day.  The family was told he would never walk or talk, but he has showed them!

Zane would love to be like all of the other kids & ride a bike.  Because of his disabilities, he needs a certain type of bike that someone can ride with him.  Zane has said that if he gets more money than he needs for his bike, he would spend the extra to go to Dollywood to meet Dolly Parton and he would buy all kinds of musical  instruments for his school.
