This group of 7 boys from West Pine Elementary School in Pinehurst, NC came together last summer to start preparing for the 2015-2016 Odyssey of the Mind competition. Before we go any further let us explain Odyssey of the Mind:
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that, "provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college."
They participated in the regional competition in March and won first place in their division which allowed them the opportunity to compete in the state competition. This past weekend they participated in the state competition and won second place and the once in a lifetime opportunity to compete in the world championships in Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University.
This championship is an amazing opportunity for this group of boys to not only compete at this level, but to also be able to interact with kids from other countries who are competing. The championship is the week of May 21st.
We are asking for room, board and transportation costs for all of the boys in addition to one parent. We need to register and pay for the competition by April 27th, but we also need to be confident that the entire team will be able to get there.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of these kids and is sure to be life changing experience that they will talk about for their entire lives. Please consider helping this awesome group of students, friends and boys fulfill their dream of participating in the Odyssey of the Mind World Championships.
