As many of you know, or may not know, about a year ago my mom, Chari Dean was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's been quite a year to say the least. Starting last June with the diagnosis, then two surgeries in July, visiting the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in September, another surgery in October, and yet another surgery last month.
The past year has had many ups and downs. One that hit me especially hard was learning her stage 2 original diagnosis had progressed to stage 4 in three months. But, there has been a lot of positives along the way too.
My mom has been doing amazingly well! She has remained positive, and has been so strong through it all. She is truly an inspiration.
She is receiving various treatments at CTCA to manage her cancer and keep it under control. Also, she has been taking lots of natural supplements and having IV therapies.
My mom and dad travel to CTCA every four weeks. I go along when I can as well. She receives injections for her bones, IVs, scans, has blood work done, and meets with her awesome team of doctors while she's there. I must say, CTCA is truly an amazing place. We are so blessed that the center works with my parents’ insurance company, so she is able to receive the best care.
The insurance covers most things, but not all. The expense to travel, keep up with IV therapies, surgeries, medications, and the supplements she is prescribed, is growing. I have started this page so that it will take some of the burden off my parents.
