We are the parents of Valerie Hammock-Wilhelm and the grandparents of Jackson, 12; Lucy Ann, 10; Lillian, 8; and Lola Jane, 4. We are hoping their story will generate the much-needed financial support for them.
On July 13th, 2015 the husband and father of this family committed sucide, leaving them penniless and extremely in debt because of his severe addictitions to drugs, alcohol, and gambling. At different times in the last year, he checked into several rehab facilities, only to check out within 24 hours later, saying that he wasn't going to follow their rules.
Valerie lived with this man for many years in a home filled with mental, physical, and verbal abuse and control, with the continuous threat of divorce and getting full custody of the children, the house and all the money.
Several months ago, he quit his position as CEO of the business he founded, all the while continuing to use drugs and alcohol. In May he tried to choke our daughter to death. With the police on the way, he fled the house and later fled the state, hiding from his 3 felony aresst warrants: trying to kill our daughter, obstructing a 911 call, and fleeing the police.
Because he took all of the money and spent it for drugs and alcohol, the family is now left with absolutely no money for purchasing the bare essentials such as food, clothing, gas for the car, and paying the utilities. He also left our daughter owing 3 months' back payments on the mortgage and 3 months' back payments on 2 auto loans, as well as owing past due payments to the IRS, plus several past due personal loans and bank loans, and much more.
Although this man was CEO and 1/3 owner of a thriving business, his business partners are refusing to offer any financial help.
We believe there are concerned and caring people who have the heart and finances to donate, as much or as little as possible. This family is in dire need of financial help immediately, or they will soon be homeless.
We have helped financially as much as we can. We are both retired and living on a fixed income.
