We want to introduce Zym, a fermenting company, to the heart of Biddeford, Maine. Zym is a company passionate about optimizing health and nutrition by offering a refreshing, palatable way to obtain probiotics.
The product we are producing is called Water Kefir, a sparkling probiotic beverage infused with fruit and herbs. It contains billions of "good bacteria" that work to aid digestion, balance pH, boost the immune system, and supply amino acids and b-vitamins, including folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, and biotin.
The "good bacteria" replaces the bad bacteria in your system making you less susceptible to infection and disease. Adding more "good bacteria" helps you break down food in a way that retains more nutrients. Replenishing this bacteria population has been found to be a critically important part of maintaining good health.
The owners of Zym, sisters Kayla and Jamie Shepard are passionate about bringing this amazing product to market which is a refreshing, palatable way to obtain probiotics. We started discovering the art and health benefits of fermentation about six years ago and have been experimenting ever since. We use only organic ingredients and obtaining them locally as much as possible.
In order to preserve the health benefits of water kefir, the product must be raw, live, unpasteurized, and unfiltered. Because of this, the state requires that we go through a detailed process of lab testing to insure that our product is safe before it reaches the consumer. We also have to pay for the licensing and insurance before we can sell to you. This is an expensive step and we could really use your help to get these happy bacteria straight to your bellies!
All donations would be greatly appreciated!! Once we are up and running we will offer a free 4-pack of your choice to any donation exceeding $30. The flavors we have perfected so far are lemon-ginger, cucumber-mint, rose petal, lemon-lime, or blueberry-lavender!
