Help the Dodd Family of Rome

If you live in Floyd County, chances are you know Erin and Matthew Dodd. Both have worked in the Public Service profession for several years. Matthew as a Probation Officer and Erin as a Special Education Needs Teacher. In the middle of 2014, their family experienced an unexpected tragedy. Matthew had a seizure for the first time in his life and while in the hospital, doctors discovered he had a tumor in his brain which turned out to be cancer. Immediate surgery was completed but not all could be removed due to the closeness of the tumor to the brain stem. After his brain surgery, Matthew needed constant care and Erin had no choice but to resume her full-time teaching job as well as take care of their 3 small children. The medical expenses were tremendous and in September of the same year, Matthew underwent another surgery. Erin's faith held strong even through the struggle her family was facing. In January 2015, Matthew began feeling better and was able to participate in outings with his family even though the medical expenses and daily expenses were continuing to add up. Matthew and Erin wanted nothing more than to make up for his lost time with his children. At his check-up in April 2015, his doctors once again found a tumor in his brain and it began growing in size. In June 2015, he began chemo and radiation treatments. At this point the expenses are too much for the family to handle which adds more stress to the saddening situation this family has had to endure in the last couple of years. The Dodd Family has touched so many lives and it is time for us, as a community, to give back to this wonderful, loving family to help them in securing their future, their home and their time with their children on this path they are walking with their trust in God. All donations will be applied to the necessities such as: mortgage, insurance, taxes, Matthew's medical bills and care givers, utilities, home maintenance, and of couse caring for the children due to Matthew's treatment and care while Erin has to work.
