REOPEN THE FRANK BETTE CENTER

Donation protected
Once upon a time...there was an artist named Frank Bette who, when he departed this earth, requested that the building at 1601 Paru Street, Alameda which was his home and business, to become “a place for meetings, readings, showings, and other creative doings.” A stalwart group of volunteers did just that. They created the vibrant Frank Bette Center for the Arts which has been an integral part of the Alameda cultural community for more than fifteen years.

Then, along came a stranger who pointed out to the City of Alameda that the building might not be in perfect condition. The city agreed and closed the center until repairs could be made. That created a conundrum. The Frank Bette Center for the Arts needs money to repair the building, but money only comes in when the center is open.

So, in order to have a happy ending to this story, the volunteers are asking friends, neighbors, artists, art lovers, philanthropists, and really, anyone who believes in the healing power of the arts to donate to this cause. We need approximately $25,000 by the end of April to make the improvements that will allow the center to reopen and continue on the glorious path of creating art for all in Alameda.

With your support this story will have a happy ending and art will flourish once again at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts!

The Frank Bette Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit
(EIN # 94-3366957) and qualifies for corporate matching funds.
