Finley Junior High Garden Vandalism
Donation protected
Mrs. Brandi Domkowski with the Finley Junior High Science Department began our garden program 2 years ago. With her dedication and hard work by students and volunteers, the garden had almost reached the point of completion. Unfortunately, on July 7th 2015, it was discovered that a group of people had broken into the property and vandalized it. All of the glass & screens have been broken out of the greenhouse. The door lock was damaged along with the temperature monitor killing all the plants & warping all the wood contained in the greenhouse. All of the plants will need to be replaced and the seed tables rebuilt. The greenhouse will need to be repaired before we are able to utilize it again.
Mrs. D and her students have worked incredibly hard raising funds, acquiring donations, and long hours on Saturdays to make this vision a reality. Classes were to begin using the facility when school re-opened this August. While our science & math departments would utilize the area the most, it was our dream that this green space be used by all departments. Feel free to review the photos from the beginning of the project to the recently done damage in our public FB page: Finley Junior High Garden
Please consider making a small donation to help us make our deadline and send a message to those that created the damage: You may have slowed us, but you will never stop us.
