Hey everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read more about why I'm asking for your help.
I'm hoping to raise as much as I can to complete my last two years of college. I know it is a lot to ask for, but I only have myself and my mother paying out of pocket so that I can recieve an education. You might say to yourself, "there are thousands of other students that are struggling just the same" or "my son/daughter is currently in school, what makes you any different".
I have always been a compassionate person; someone always rooting for the underdog and someone that just wants to help others. I am a psychology major with a minor in performing arts. When I graduate, I hope to further my education in clinical psychology and work with war veterans with PTSD and severe mental illness. Working with the military is something that is close to my heart; my great-grandfather was an army veteran that was honored with a Purple Heart, and my brother is currently serving in the Air Force. They are my inspirations and it would be an honor to give back to that community.
In the fall of 2016, I have plans on studying abroad in Florence, Italy at Scuola Lorenzo de Medici. It wasn't in my four year plan here at Lasell to study abroad, I was too afraid and too anxious to apply. My grandpa, Paul Gauthier, has been my biggest inspiration for finally applying and getting accepted. He had always encouraged me to follow my dreams and step outside of my comfortzone. The stories of his adventures, living his life to its fullest, and creating memories are all things that I want to carry out for the rest of my life in his honor. My grandpa understood me and connected with me the way no other person could, and I want to continue to make him proud of who I am and who I will be.
Being a student leader on campus as an orientation leader and a peer mentor has given me the opportunity to give back to people and develop my skills as a helping professional. Last semester I was shocked to see that I had made the Dean's List because it proved to myself that working hard for something that I wanted, while balancing working part-time and being a member of the dance team, is all worth it. To be able to continue here at Lasell College would be my greatest accomplishment.
Exploring life, recieving an education, and always trying my hardest in everything I do, has always been things I am passionate about. Thank you for considering me and thank you for your donation (if given). This means the world to me and I hope you can give me just that.
