Synagogue for Central Nebraska

Jewish Kearney is Hassidic in its roots and customs with a warmth and welcoming of all individuals. We understand that every person has a story about why they feel connected to Judaism, and Jewish Kearney is here to help them find answers to their long asked questions. Answers that can only come from the ancient wisdom and sacred texts of the Holy Rabbi's from days of old.

Jewish Kearney was born in the spring of 2012 when Rabbi Dovid and Rebbetzin Laila Shaffier moved to Kearney with their young family from Colorado. Since their arrival, the Kearney Jewish community has grown and expanded. The outreach that Jewish Kearney provides touches the hearts and souls of individuals through all walks of life, both Jew and non-Jew alike. The Shaffiers have opened up the doors of their home to be a place for those who are searching.

Since 2012 the community has grown, and now we're in desperate need of a place to worship, study and come together as a community. This community also serves as a way to connect for Jewish students away from home and teachers at UNK.  Our goal is to raise the first years rent and operating expenses for the first synogogue in central Nebraska. Every dollar will bring us closer to building a lasting Jewish community that you can be proud to have helped create!
