Youth Outreach in Central Florida

Tax deductible
Since the last week of 2016 when a young 26-year-old mother of 2, Kendra Lewis’ life was taken as an innocent bystander at the Citgo gas station in Pine Hills when a shooting took place, Let Your Voice Be Heard, Inc. has stepped up our efforts to perform outreach to the youth in several ways. She had been a victim of an altercation between youth whom were suspended for school and met up near Evans High School to settle it. The youth ended up shooting at a gas Citgo gas station and while Kendra Lewis waited for her younger brother, she became an innocent bystander and victim. We have been reaching out to the youth ever since and can assure that there have been no fights or shootings or mishaps of any kind since we have been on the scene, and we have reached out to more than one school. This is how.

We have partnered up with certain schools such as Jones High School, Evans High School and Robinswood Middle School to conduct workshops during the school day with the students and teach them lessons on crime prevention, anti-bullying, political awareness, social justice and more. In the school year of 2017-2018 we will also extend to Meadowbrook Middle school. We’ve also launched an after-school outreach process in which we've could reach out to the youth after school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and greet them with snacks and drinks and provide handouts with information for after school programs, mentoring, community service, social and health services for families and more.

This effort has shown to decrease the violence and crime occurrences that usually took place in the areas we perform outreach. This is a calculated measure done to help decrease the likeliness of horrific events occurring after school with the presence of adults and perform outreach to the youth by providing them with key information that can bring opportunities for young students, and help their family alleviate the stresses of life with assistance and services available, thus creating a better home environment for our youth also. This is a continuous effort with workshops during school days and outreach and check-ups afterschool. What we need:

* Chips
* Drinks

* Printed Handouts
* Small packaged snacks
*VOLUNTEERS
* Monetary donations for supplies
