“CANCERSTRUCK”

My mom’s story:

Fan Fannie Bell-Hoy Is Bravely Fighting Stage II-Anal Cancer

As many of you may already know, it has been a very agonizing 12 months.  On June 19th Mom was diagnosed with Stage II Anal Cancer.  The family was just getting over the shock of my father passing away on Mother’s Day (no life insurance policy).  Less than 3 weeks after he died, mom was hospitalized (for the second time) undergoing biopsy testing at Conroe Regional Medical Center.

End result- Stage II Anal Cancer.

This is the same type of cancer that Farrah Fawcett bravely battled.  Unfortunately for Farrah, it was caught at much more advanced stage than my mom’s.

Anal Cancer is one the rarest and most EXTREEEMLY painful types of Cancers.  For those of you that know my mom, she is a FIGHTER.  She has lot to live for.  In her words, “I am not going to give in or give up."

She has 6 children, 10 Grand Children, and 5 Great Grand Children.   She loves gardening, writing, reading, and volunteering at Church working with the children. She also loves to play basketball (4 year letter champion) and former High School Football Sweet Heart.

On Sunday’s you can usually find her at church. She volunteers to teach Sunday school and Vacation Bible School (when in session) at the First Presbyterian Church of Conroe. One of her loves is cooking Sunday dinner for her family.  She is known for making a “mean chicken spaghetti.” =)

Currently, she is undergoing a very “aggressive treatment plan.”  Regimen: 6 Weeks of INTENSE Chemo & Radiation therapy.  As of this week, she is almost finished with week 5.  After she finishes this round, she will undergo testing in 3 months to determine if she will need another 6 weeks of treatment.

Fannie IS a Fighter; she is a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Fannie loves her family and keeps a positive attitude even during the most difficult and challenging times in life. She has certainly paved the path of faith, love, strength, commitment, hope and inspiration for her entire family.

Costs:
Cancer is “not cheap these days”.   In fact, there are an increasing number of Americans in this country that cannot afford treatment because insurance does not always cover…

Bottom Line:
Out of pocket cost: Rapidly approaching $20,000 (with insurance)

“Hidden Out of Pocket Costs”$10,000 (and growing every day).

Here is our plan.
Raise as many funds as possible on gofundme.com within the next 30 days to help cover the upfront out of pocket costs.

THE MAIN EVENT
Date: Sometime in September
Venue- TBD

Goal:
Initial fundraising efforts raise $10,000 with a future goal of $30,000-$50,000.  We also want to send a CLEAR message to Washington DC that it is “Time to fix Cancer”.  It is time to close the “insurance gap” that is affecting so many other Americans across this country.

 We owe it to them.

On behalf of me and the entire Hoy family, we sincerely appreciate all of your prayers and support during one of the most difficult life changing events we have ever faced in our adulthood.

Stay tuned for more event details to come.  I cannot emphasize enough how much your contributions means to us whether it’s in the form of a prayer or a donation, we sincerely thank you.

God Bless,

Love & Respect
