Save Surfshack

Thank you all for your checking out my page to a cause that is very dear to my heart. Those that know me well know of my trip to Africa a few years back to help out with an outreach center just outside Cape Town. It was one of the greatest, most enriching experiences of my life being able to work with children and people a fraction as fortunate as I, but richer in character and courage than me several times over.

The outreach center, Surfshack, is strictly volunteer based and runs an extensive mentor/after school tutoring program/surf school, essentially rolling together several jobs all at once in order to keep the kids off the streets, sticking to their studies and staying out of trouble. They've had great success over the years, overcoming a lot of adversity; the areas they serve nearby are some of the harshest shanty towns around, and the fact they've been able to have a positive impact in the community there for so long is a true testament to the fortitude of this program and its people.


Unfortunately, the program has recently come under hard times. Due to financial issues the school will soon have to relinquish control of the program. I am starting this Go Fund me to raise as much money as possible for the school and the children. The U.S. dollar goes a long way there, so even if you think you can give a little, please give it. I appreciate you all more than you know, and am greatful for your support and time.
