Elise's Round - Fight to Win

Elise was 20 years old when she was diagnosed with stage  3c melanoma in June 2012. Soon after her diagnosis she had several surgeries, radiation treatment and months of interferon treatment. On April 30, 2013 Elise learned that two biopsies taken were positive for cancer despite all of the treatments she  has been through. At that time she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastic Melanoma. Elise completes several months of a treatment called interleukin-2 and was responding to this at first however a scan in September 2013 revealed that her cancer started to spread again. Elise and her family then decided to find a clinical trial which was also suggested by her doctor at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Elise traveled to Pittsburgh for several months and participated in a ipilmumab and PD1 clinical trial. This appeared to be somewhat effective and some of her tumors began to shrink. However, her cancer then appeared to start spreading again and the trial was stopped in March 2014. With the  help of the doctors Elise was referred to the National Institue of Health for the opportunity to have another chance at getting another treatment in order to save her life. She shortly started adoptive cell therapy.  Elise continued to live her life. She stayed positive and  kept on going. She never let her illness get in the way of what she loved most. She recently married the man of her dreams on  May 29th and went on her honeymoon. To only come home and receive devastating news that the cancer had traveled to her brain.  The doctors told her she had only two months left to live.  With every prognosis she has beat and conquered and proven the doctors wrong. We are trying to help this beautiful, caring, optimistic and wonderful person in our lives  to live her life to the fullest and defy the odds again.
