On Monday, June 15, 2015, the lives of the Ross family were changed forever by the tragic passing of Colby Ross. Colby leaves behind a young daughter, Darby Ross Whitfield; father, Doug Ross; mother, Barbara Ebert; and siblings, Lindsay, Jared, and Garrett.
Colby and the entire Ross family have been actively involved in the Huntsville hockey community for over thirty years. Growing up in a hockey family, Colby played many years for youth and travel hockey programs. His Father, Doug, was the head coach at UAH for 25 years. Colby’s older brother, Jared was an integral figure on UAH hockey team before leaving to play professional hockey throughout the US and Europe. Giving back to the children in the community, and furthering student education has always a forefront in the Ross family’s mind, and now they could use our help as well.
Former teammates of Jared’s have started this fund to assist with college costs for Colby’s little girl. The UAH hockey program helped provide educations to many hockey players from around the world. This is our way, as former members of the UAH hockey team, to give back and pay homage to our Coach, Doug, and teammate, Jared. We have set our goal at $25,000 as a stepping stone to help assist Darby with her college education. Coach Ross has set out to ensure his Granddaughter has a solid foundation to begin her college education, lets help him reach his goals.
