Dear friends, acquaintances and strangers,
I would like to take a moment of your time and introduce you to the unfortunate circumstances of my beloved Anita, who does not have much time left.
In January Anita visited her local GP in Edinburgh, a city we have lived in now for ten years. Even though she went to him complaining she was not feeling well, this GP did not refer her for any tests or to any specialist. Without any evidence he blamed her symptoms on being overweight.
Anita realized this GP would not be convinced to take any further action and help her, therefore she decided she would wait until her summer holiday when she takes our seven year old daughter to Poland and go to see a doctor privately.
Test results showed a tumour on her uterus and ovaries. She immediately underwent surgery to have it removed. Tumour size was 21x9 cm. It was determined that this tumour was her cancer spreading from somewhere else in her body. After a short recovery, Anita decided to return to Scotland to continue her care.
After presenting her records from Poland she was referred to the oncology department in the Edinburgh Western General Hospital. On 19/08/15 she underwent a PET scan in effort to pinpoint the origin of her cancer. A week later she received the results showing one of the worst kinds of cancer that is currently attacking her skeletal system. According to the doctors she only has months to live and the only treatment option offered is to undergo chemotherapy. This would not cure her cancer but make her more comfortable and perhaps slightly delay the inevitable.
We have been together for thirteen years now and I will not allow my loved one to pass away without a fight.
We have been looking high and low to find someone who can help us. On Friday we found a treatment option that gives a glimmer of hope to slow or cure her condition. Treatment involves a series of injections that cause the immune system to become hyperactive to a point where it starts attacking the cancer cells. With this treatment, a lot depends on how advanced the cancer is, overall health of the patient as well as a very controlled diet.
There are no guarantees, but what kind of human, partner and father would I be if I didn’t try to help my loved one and the mother of my child. The obstacle is the financial implication for the treatment and the cost of living we have to manage at the moment. The treatment, controlled diet, supplements and all the sanitary accessories would costs around £15 000 which is a lot of money and money we do not have. In an effort to save her life, I would like to ask everyone to help raise this amount.
Anita is known for her active lifestyle. Biking, photography and museums are her hobbies. She gladly takes part in organizing activities and games for kids. She is one of the most active members of the parent advisory council in our daughter’s school. It was her idea and initiative to build the school playground. She is recognized and known for her positive energy and outlook on life. She is dependable and can always be counted on.
Let’s not put her into pasture. She is willing to fight until the very end, she just needs your help.
