I would like to introduce you to my friend Meg.  She is 24 years old and lives in Texas after coming to the United States last year from the United Kingdom to be with her husband.  She is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, animal shelter volunteer and artist.

In August 2014 during a routine dental appointment to have her wisdom teeth removed, the preliminary X-rays showed a “ameloblastoma” tumor in her jaw.  The good  news is that it was benign, the bad news is that the tumor and much of her lower jaw would have to be removed.

In late September 2014, Meg underwent the surgery to remove the tumor and the affected jaw and in its place they inserted a titanium plate wraped in a sponge material made of “bone morphogenetic protiens”  If all goes well, over the course of the next nine to twelve months the sponge will absorb into her body and a new bone will have grown in its place.   This procedure has a good success rate of over 80% but if the new bone is rejected there are other possible options.

For the first month after the surgery her mouth will be wired shut and she will be on a soft diet for five months after that.  Full recovery and rehabilitation is expected to be 12-15 months.  She will be unable to go back to work full time during this period, tho is expected to work at home with her art after a couple of months.

While Meg and her husband do have insurance, it is limited coverage.  I’m therefore asking all those who have enjoyed her art over the years and/or those who want to help her get back on her feet again to donate what you can.  If you chose a “reward”, make sure you leave some contact information.  You will be contacted soon after with confirmation.  If you chose to donate without choosing a reward, Meg and her husband would like to offer their most sincerest thank you.  The support of everone reading this truly means the world to Meg and her husband!♥

**NOTE**  Everyone who donates for a "reward" wil be required to provide an email for contact.  Those wanting a postcard, bracelet or necklace/choker will also have to provide a shipping address.   All rewards (except the postcards) will start being created after January 1, 2015 due to recovery time.  If Meg and her husband are able to start them earlier, they will contact you.    These rewards aren't "commissions" but their effort to say a special "thank you" to those who have helped them.
