My name is Luke Bordessa and i'm 41. I am going to ride my bicycle 1100kms in 7 days from Coolum on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland (Jameela's Home) to Killarney Vale in NSW on the Central Coast (Ruby's Home).
I have a 5yr old son and when I found out what had happened to both of these beautiful young girls, I tried to imagine myself the in the position of the Girl's parents and I felt like I could do something to raise funds for their ongoing care. I'm not the fittest or fastest middle aged man in lycra and doing this ride is a huge challenge for me.

Jameela has been diagnosed with having a Severe Traumatic Brain Injury following a MVA ( Motor Vehicle Accident ) on the 8/12/2013. Jameela was admitted to the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane where she spent the next 4 months, seeing countless specialists. Jameela has spastic quadriplegia and dyskinetic movements more associated with her right side. Her vision has also been affected, diagnosed with having right homonymous hemianopsia. Jameela has complex and multifaceted communication impairment characterised by motor speech difficulties, with underlying receptive and expressive language impairment. Jameela still has a button in her stomach to help with her feeding & liquid intake. Jameela requires ongoing support and round the clock care.

Ruby was born with a congenital birth defect known as a sliding hiatus hernia.
This is where the diaphragm does not attach with the oesophagi a, and hence allowing the stomach to enter into the chest cavity with the lungs. Her defect is secondary to a genetic condition known as Ehlers- Danlos Sybdrome, a hyper mobility condition which effectively means that her body, including connective tissue, is a lot stretchier than a normal person. This includes the diaphragm and is why her 2 major corrective surgeries have filed. Her continual failure to thrive has also been worsened by a new diagnosis of Coeliac disease. She is booked for a 3rd major operation in April, where doctors will use a porcine graft derived from pigs intestine. We hope that this might allow her body to continue to grow while putting less pressure on her diaphragm.

I want to raise the money to help pay for these 2 girls care, their medications and treatments are very costly and put a huge amount of pressure on their families.
I hope that you can help me raise funds for this very worthy cause and make a difference in the lives of 2 very special young Australians.
