I'd like to begin with thanking everyone that has taken a moment from the day to read this story that may potentially help someone who really deserves it. This gofundme is NOT for me but for someone I believe is going through a tough time and could use anyones and everyones support.
I am a cook at a restaurant in Seminole Heights, Florida that utilizes as much local products (not just produce) that we can possibly get. Not only for the quality but because it helps all those local people put food on the table for their families. That being said the young man I am looking to help is Hassan Lewis who plans to attend USF this summer.
I met Hassan through a teacher of his who approached Chef about bringing his student on for free just to learn. After sometime we hired Hassan to wash dishes while also prepping for free in his spare time. Attending school with all college level courses, prepping for free, washing dishes until one in the morning, and still taking time to help others at a local boys and girls club. The same kind of club Hassan hopes to create with a more culinary forward program.
Hassan recently found out that a scholarship he thought would take care of school will only get him through the summer. His family has struggles of their own possessing Hassan to use money he earns to help pay bills at home. I am proud to say I know Hassan and personally see how hard he has worked the last few years. I am asking for anyone to help however they can. A few dollars goes a long way to help someone go to school and enjoy learning. I personally have $60,000 worth of loan debt attending school and would love to help put someone through school without a number looming over their head.
Even if you can not help at least take the time to read this and share my words with someone else. Hassan does not know I have put this up and I'd like to surprise him if this were to raise any amount of money.
