A Story of Coming Home
Donation protected
This campaign is a collaborative effort: a fundraiser created in memory of the dear son of Therese Murray, who is a beloved volunteer at CWS-Durham, a refugee resettlement agency in the Piedmont of North Carolina.
Therese, the loving mother of Jackson Murray, and her volunteer counterpart Suzanne, have given almost three years of combined service to Church World Service (CWS) as ESL volunteers and immigration data support volunteers. Jackson, aged 22, passed away tragically in an auto accident in April of 2010 and, in his honor, Therese and Suzanne are launching this fundraising campaign to help live out one of his many dreams to raise money for an organization that supports families in need.
CWS is an international nonprofit organization with global programs addressing world hunger, international development, and refugee resettlement. The CWS Immigrant and Refugee Program office has been operating in Durham, NC since 2009, resettling over 1,000 refugees in the Triangle area during this time, and assisting hundreds of others with their employment, English language learning, case management, and immigration needs post arrival. Therese and Suzanne have served the refugee community through CWS-Durham in a number of ways, and this fundraiser is an extension of their gift.
We will regularly post stories, updates, and information about refugee resettlement news from the CWS-Durham office to give donors and prospective participants some insight into the work of refugee resettlement, as well as some perspective from the volunteers who are crucial to the provision of services.
Please consider a donation to this fund to support refugee resettlement services in Durham, and to contribute to the fruition of Jackson Murray's dream of community service. In memory, with respect, and in hope for the future, may his song always be sung. One hundred percent of donations received through this site will go directly towards supporting the services of the CWS-Durham office.
