1st Annual WPAFB, OH Fallen EOD 5k
Beginning in 2011, it has been decreed that the first Saturday of every May be National Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Day. This day honors members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have risked or given their lives in the line of duty.
EOD technicians are specially trained to deal with disarming and disposing high explosive devices and other types of ordnance, including nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. National EOD Day was created to recognize EOD professionals and the work they do to protect people from harm.
Wright-Patterson AFB, OH is home the 788th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight, and we are starting a new tradition in 2016. As a means to commemorate this day of reverence, while simultaneously fundraising for a truly wonderful charity organization, we will host a "5k For the Fallen." All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the EOD Warrior Foundation.
As a revolving theme, we will honor one USAF EOD Team or Technician that has made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, we will be recognizing "Team Tripwire."
Please join us in starting a new tradition here at Wright-Patt while supporting such a worthy cause!
