These RNs had cared for people who have had life altering events. In 2001, Wolf had a freak accident that would not only turn her life upside down, but her partner, Tara's, and their kids' as well. As RNs, Wolf and Tara had cared for people who had these type of experiences. On her way home from a customer appreciation party at her's and Tara's business, the axle broke on Wolf's truck. The violent jolt caused by the axle snapping slammed Wolf's head into the driver's side window rendering her unconscious. The truck turned 180º and passed Tara who was following her. Tara described how she was horrified as she watched Wolf pass by her. Wolf's head was bobbing when the out of control truck passed by her. She watched helplessly as the truck left the road and rolled down a steep hill. Wolf's limp body was ripped out of the seatbelt and violently thrown out the passenger window. Her partner found her broken body in a rock-laden field 50 yards from her truck. Mortified and in disbelief, Tara ran to where she had seen the truck headlights cut through the darkness of the night. She saw the lifeless body of Wolf thrown through the beams of headlights and then land hard against the ground. As she ran in the dark, searing, stinging pain stung her legs as barbwire slashed through her legs and tore her flesh. Running felt like slow motion as Tara finally got to where Wolf lay. She held Wolf's head up so she wouldn't choke on the blood pouring from her mouth. It seemed in no time at all the paramedics had arrived as if sent by the powers above. The paramedics slid Wolf onto a back board and rushed her to the ambulance to get out of the cold dark winter night. They immediately placed a tube in Wolf's windpipe so she could breathe. The life-flight helicopter had been called, but was having difficulties landing due to high winds. She was instead rushed to the closest hospital 15 miles away. Wolf woke up 10 days later with no sensation from the nipple line down and no recollection of the accident.

Wolf and her partner had been active in organizing community events in their town and volunteered to teach technical theatre and scene design at their local high school for 9 years. Wolf was focusing on a world class event in physique when the accident happened. Wolf has never given up on getting out of the wheelchair. She taught herself to crawl. She went to a program in Utah to learn how to walk short distances with braces. The greatest gift was being able to ride Missy at Front Range Hippo Therapy. Now, she has been accepted as a candidate for stem cell treatment at the Stem Cell Institute in Panama City, Panama and is raising funds so she can live this dream.

Wolf has had a vision that she will walk again. She looks forward to hearing leaves in the fall crunch under her feet as she walks through them. She has missed not walking and holding her partner's hand. Now, she looks forward to holding her grandchildrens' hands and hiking through the forests. She really looks forward to snowshoeing down her road. She has also vowed to promote the research and FDA approval of stem cells for Humans in the United States. Take the politics out of it. Please visit: www.cellmedicine.com to see what diseases and injuries are being treated with your very own stem cells.
