On June 7, 2015, late at night our sweet friend Amber awoke to find her 7-year old daughter unresponsive in the bathroom. Amber performed CPR, was able to get Melody's heart to start beating again, and got her to the hospital right away.
Once at the hospital, they were able to determine that Melody had suffered a sudden, severe asthma attack and while every other part of Melody's body had survived, her brain had been without oxygen too long and brain death had occurred.
Today, our friend had to make a decision that no parent should ever have to make. After neurology performed another scan to check for any brain activity, Amber made the gut wrenching, completely selfless decision to remove life support so that Melody's organs can be donated to children across the country, who's lives can be saved.
Most of us, can not even begin to imagine the pain that Amber is dealing with right now. On top of the grief of losing a child, Amber now has funeral and medical expenses to think about. We are asking for financial assistance to help cover the costs of the memorial service, at the least. Any additional funds raised will go towards medical expenses.
No amount is too small, whatever you can afford to give will be greatly appreciated.
