Matt's Hope For A Cure

MY 26 YEAR OLD SON AND HIS FAMILY NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Last December my son Matthew Brennan was partially paralyzed by a disease called CIDP(Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy). CIDP is an autoimmune disease which attacks and destroys the insulation around his nerves. Only 5,000 to 10,000 people have this terrible disease at any given time. This disease causes burning, tingling, and aching pain in his hands, feet, and limbs. CIDP can also cause complete loss of balance and paralysis. Every day Matthew’s nerves are being damaged more and more.

Matthew had just graduated college, started a new career, and found out he was going to be a father, when this terrible disease took control of his life. His symptoms became so bad that Matthew could barely walk or get up from a seated position. This led to Matthew losing his job because he could not return to work. Matthew and his wife Krista now have their hands full with a MOUNTAIN of MEDICAL DEBT, and a beautiful baby girl named Mckenzie.

Matthew is currently being treated with IVIG(Intravenous Immunoglobulin Transfusions) and  corticosteroids. His body has stopped responding to his monthly IVIG infusions, and has developed medicine induced diabetes from the steroids. These treatments are by no means a cure for this autoimmune disease. Also these treatments only mildly give him his mobility back. IVIG is very costly and can have some negative long term effects on the body’s kidneys. Steroids at such a high dose can cause kidney and liver failure along with bone density loss.

A STEM CELL TRANSPLANT IS THE CLOSEST TREATMENT TO A CURE!!!

Matthew is now on a quest to receive a stem cell transplant at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago, under the direction of Dr. Richard Burt. If this procedure is not covered by Matthew’s insurance the price tag will be in the neighborhood of 85,000 dollars. This is not including travel and lodging while in Chicago, food, and post treatment care Matthew may need. The goal of a stem cell transplant is to kill Matthew’s defective immune system that is attacking his peripheral nerves. This will be accomplished by administering him chemotherapy for 4 days. Once he no longer has a measurable amount of white blood cells, they will re-introduce his own harvested stem cells. This will begin the process of rebuilding him a brand new immune system.

Please help my son Matthew get his life back! I ask that you please share this page with everyone on your social media sites. We THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts if you are able to make a donation. This treatment could truly save Matthew’s life!!!
