The first thing that you notice about McKenna Wilburn is her smile. It is simply amazing. She is beautiful 15 years old who lights up a room with laughter and warmth. But, one of the things I love most about McKenna is her radiant heart that shines through in all she does. McKenna lives life to its fullest. She is quick to giggle, sing, dance, and laugh, spreading joy all around her. She is loved by many whose hearts are breaking right now as she is in the fight of her life battling Medullary Renal Cell Carcinoma.
McKenna's mom, along with her step father Michael are an amazing example of family, strength, faith and positivity. They have worked tirelessly to raise three kids. The financial burden of this cancer is heavy and we want to ease this burden by supporting them in every way possible. But most especially to enable them to get the best medical care possible for McKenna. The cancer she is battling is extremely rare (with fewer than 120 cases worldwide) and currently has no cure. The survival rate is grim. There are promising clinical trials however, for drugs at MD Anderson in that could make a difference between life and death for McKenna. Unfortunately, these drugs are not covered by insurance.
McKenna and her family need our help. They need every penny we can raise to help them beat this and give McKenna a chance at life. Please donate what you can and give generously. As Yoko Ono once said, "Every drop in the ocean counts".
