I've been laid off and need help.

The job I worked for had to make a couple cut backs due to financial problems and I was one of a few people that got laid off because of this.  I applied for unemployment services through the state but I have not heard anything back from them yet so it’s probably a dead end.  I’m not asking for much, just a little bit of financial help to cover my rent for the next two months while I try to acquire a new job.  I thank anyone who can help me in this.
