Today I am writing about a dear friend Michael Possenti. Some of you know Mike but for those who don't, this is his story. Mike was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11. Even though he was diagnosed at a young age it did not stop him from doing the things he loved such as playing football, basketball, and baseball. Mike had such determination that he went on to play all three sports at Salesianum (class of 88) in Delaware and then again at Villanova (class of 92). Mike also felt so fortunate to make so many wonderful friends through high school and college . In November of 2011 Mike broke his foot and that was the beginning of his health problems. His kidneys began to fail and was on dialysis 4 days a week. During that time he lost his right leg in August of 2012 due to the disease. In October 2013 Mike had a kidney transplant which was a successful surgery. Unfortunately, this past July Mike's other leg needed to be amputated and now needs another prosthetic . Mike is self employed and it has been a challenge keeping the business a float because of all the medical issues he has suffered over the last four years. Mike is a single father of two young children but his medical bills are insurmountable. In order to help Mike " get back on his feet" I ask you to take a minute and donate whatever you possibly can to help Mike and his family with these expenses . Thank you in advance for your contributions and please keep Mike and his family in your prayers as he continues to heal and recover. Thank you and God bless!
