DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA is a student organization with members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Wareham High School DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Our students leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.
The DECA International Career Development Conference ICDC (which is in Nashville, TN this year) is the pinnacle of the DECA year. Sixteen thousand high school students, advisors, businesspersons and alumni from all over the world gather for several days of DECA excitement. Participants at ICDC compete in one of DECA's competitive events. The top competitors in each event are recognized for their outstanding achievements. In addition to the competitive events, many students and advisors participate in a variety of leadership and career advancing academies.
We have 23 of our students competing/participating at the ICDC. The students have already done some fundraising and reduced the price of the trip from approximately $1450.00 per participant to approximately $800.00. This includes: Airfare to Nashville, Hotel Accommodations, Conference Fees and some sightseeing activities. We are requesting donations for this incredible educational and cultural experience for these twenty-three Wareham High School DECA Students. These students have already won at both the district and state level of academic competition and now are going to this year’s ICDC to represent the town of Wareham as well as the state of Massachusetts. This is the highest number of students Wareham has ever sent to the International Competition.
Thank you in advance for your support of the Wareham High School DECA Program. If you have any questions please call one of us at the high school.
Sincerely yours,
Cindy Sylvia, Monice Maurice, Janine Enos, Michael Cali - Advisors
