All of these adjectives describe some aspect of me.
Yet, I have yet to find the appropriate adjective to describe how I felt when cultural anthropology Professor Jeannette “Cookie” Fischer invited me to accompany her and her Master's of Media in Social Policy students on an intercultural expedition.

To CUBA!!!

I just about flipped!

Professor Fischer was intrigued with my Olympic Games, Asian Games and other major event planning, coordination and integration experience  so she approached me about advising the organizers of Cuba's Biennale on a pro bono basis.
My response was absolute giddiness.

Well, she just spent the winter in Cuba, organizing a collaboration between her students and Cuba’s, Sociedad Cultural Jose Marti, to produce an intercultural documentary film.

The program grants access to a unique collection of Cuban intellectuals and leaders in film, television, art, communications, music and business.

Professor Fischer has arranged for me to meet with Omar Gonzales, President of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry. We will be engaging in conversations about opportunities in eco-tourism, education exchange and event production.

The mission also includes meetings with:

+ Roberto Salas,personal photographer of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara;

+ Rolando Almirante at International School of Film and Television;

+ Students and faculty of the world-renowned artist community, Korimakao; and so much MORE!!

This incredible trip takes place in less than one month! May 12-27th.

My contribution to this epic journey is $2800 (which covers airfare, lodging, food, ground transportation and workshops)!!

This incredible surprise has caught me short on cash since I am between jobs, but the time to go is NOW when I don't have work holding me back!

I am scouring my network for grants, scholarships and sponsorships to support this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Additionally, although Cuba is filled with exquisite culture, there are vast shortages and few retail stores.   So I will be donating school supplies, vitamins, clothing,  and books to the children and young adults at the schools on our itinerary.  Your generous donations to help fund these much-needed gifts are especially welcome and appreciated.

All contributors may follow my journey via video, photographs as well as a litany of anecdotes to accompany them!

If you aren't in the position to contribute at this time, please spread the word and share with your networks!

Muchas Gracias!!
