Hi my name is Victor! I have spastic cerebral palsy. SCP results from brain injury at birth. There is damage to the part of the brain that shuts off or limits the spinal reflexes. This causes spasms in the back of my legs. It makes these muscles so tight that I can't straighten out my legs.
I've been stuck in this wheelchair since I was 12 years old. I am now 26 and ready to get out of this thing. It has been holding me back for so many years. I just want to move on with my life. Fortunately I've found the place to do just that in Long Beach, California! Pro Bono!!!
I am so thankful for Doc Dossman and his team for all the work they've done, without ever asking for a dime in return! Doc dossman has even reached into his own pocket to purchase things such as walkers, crutches, and other things needed for my treatment. He has even allowed me to post my video to his YouTube account! Not only has he been a great doctor, he's also been a mentor and friend to me. Unfortunately there is only so much he can do without help.
We have come just about as far as we can go without further assistance. I need a few rounds of Botox injections in my hamstrings in order for me to take things to the next level. This will allow me to fully straighten my legs out. If I can do this, I'll be able to perform more leg strengthening exercises that I need to build muscle in my legs. The amount of Botox needed for this type of treatment is very expensive. Thankfully, Doc Dossman has a doctor on his team willing to perform these injections free of charge. We just need the medication. We also need gait analysis equipment, orthotics/braces, shoes, and money for the nutritional changes he has been making in my diet.
This guy has even help me with bus fare from time to time. I'm so ready to take things to the next level. I want to be able to continue with my progression in hopes of one day becoming a story of inspiration for the world. I'm asking for your help so that we can continue to move forward. I'd like to one day play with my son, walk, drive and even get a job. I feel so close I just need a little assistance.
Through my struggle I believe that God has revealed his purpose for my life. and that is simply to inspire people. With God on our side nothing is impossible. I'm so excited about the progress I've made in the past nine months. I am proud to know that many of you have been following along.
