Walk for the Rose Centre, Reading

I am joining other community members in a sponsored walk for the Rose Centre Reading.  This centre grow out of the campaign to tackle FGM in Reading.  It particularly works with women - it is a community-based initiative which celebrates beneficent cultural traditions and rites of passage, and the diverse communities living in Reading.

They support individuals and communities that have experience of harmful cultural practices and we advocate the abandonment of FGM, and provide a safe space, informal peer-to-peer support, workshops, training, crafts, new friendships, and discussions on topical issues.

This sponsored walk is to raise awareness among the community and sadly, due to the squeeze on NHS funding to raise funds as we need to raise money to keep it a free resource open to all.
