We've all been touched by cancer in some way, shape, or form. Whether it's someone we love, or us directly. I lost my great-grandmother back in January after a long battle with cancer. I only wish that I had someone to help, but I had no such luxury. When I heard of this, I knew from the beginning that I was going to make a difference.
When I first met Angie Ruder, I had no idea that we would be so close to each other. She's helped me through a lot of stuff, and was there for me when my great-grandma died, and she was there for me when not a whole lot of people were. Angie and I became very fast friends, and I don't think I could be blessed with a better one. A few months after meeting Angie, I met her mom and her brother. I quickly realized why Angie was the way she was. It runs in her family. The Ruder family is probably one of the most special families that I have ever had the privellege of meeting. Everyone in the Ruder family is so unbelieveably thoughtful. They are made up of five awesome people. Eddie and Linda, and their three kids: Debbie (19), Angie (17), and Johnny (15).
These five have been dealt a particularly hard hand in the past week. On June 4th, they found out that Linda (I'm only allowed to call her Mrs. Ruder, so I'm breaking the rules) has cancer, and will need surgery after she completes radiation. All of this costs a pretty good chunk of money that they really don't have. I'm setting out to try and accomplish a goal of $10,000 for the family to pay for medical expenses and things like meals, gas, money for utilities, and other various things while Mrs. Ruder is in and out of the hospital. I'm using GoFundMe as another source of donations, and have set this goal to $1,000.
I will be hosting a fundraiser in Olathe, Kansas sometime at the end of June. If you have any money you'd like to donate, I would appreciate it, and I know the Ruder family will too. If you have anything to donate such as baked goods, shirts, necklaces, and other merchandise, please get in contact with me.
I can't do this without help. Let's make a difference in a family's life.
